Hyderabad: With no end to migrations from YSRCP to TDP, the Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to take up a national-level campaign tilled ‘Save Democracy’.

Besides touring in the constituencies from where his MLAs had shifted loyalties to TDP, Jagan is working out strategies to take up the issue at national-level. As part of this, he would visit New Delhi on April 25 to call on leaders of all major political parties and impress upon them about the “blatant” violation of democratic norms by the Naidu government.

He will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee in this regard on Monday. He had already called on Governor ESL Narsimhan and submitted a memorandum alleging that the Chief Minister was encouraging defections by luring them with kick bags, offering MLAs Rs 30 crore each MLA besides promising them ministerial berths in the State Cabinet.

Speaking to press persons, Jagan dared Naidu to disqualify the defectors and asked them to seek fresh mandate. He said it could be treated as a referendum on the governance of the TDP.

Jagan said that he had also explained to the Governor about the various scams that were taking place in the State. He added that his party would also seek legal recourse to ensure that defectors were disqualified from the membership of the State Assembly. Meanwhile, the party leaders at district-level took out candle light protests against the defections into TDP.
