Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) has fastened hands with the University of Virgin Islands, USA to offer the American Certified Public Accountancy (CPA), which has global acceptability and compatibility to pave a way for accounting professional to join multinational companies world over, Vice-Chancellor Prof M Muthyala Naidu said here on Tuesday.

  • The CPA Centre is the first in India, second in the world after Dubai

Reames, Stephen Anthony, Dean, School of Business Management, University of Virgin Islands, USA inaugurated the CPA Centre in Nannaya University on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Muthyala Naidu said that this would be the first CPA centre in India and 2nd in the world after Dubai.

He explained that the Indian global professional accountants who are presently going abroad to appear for the CPA examinations could now appear in India at the Nannaya University.

In the this context, he said that AKNU was launching two programmes including MBA (Finance) after completing B Com degree with first class and B Com (Honours) after completing Intermediate with CEC, MPC and MEC in first division and added that the syllabi have been envisaged in lines with CPA that would befit the students to appear CPA and secure MBA (Finance) and B Com (Honours).

Once CPA was completed, he mentioned that there was enormous scope for placements and careers globally in accounting and financial management. He maintained that these incumbents could join the MNCs whose operations are in India or abroad. He termed this development would add the feather in AKNU’s cap.

Speaking on the occasion, Reames, Stephen Anthony, Dean, School of Business Management, University of Virgin Islands, USA expressed happiness to introduce this course in Nannaya Universality for the first time in the country and called upon the students of the University to make use of this unique course.

He maintained that the students would get an opportunity to get employment in international companies. He explained that the objective of the CPA was to bridge the gap between American accountancy and International accountancy. In this programme, he mentioned that the professors of the University of Virgin Islands would train the faculty of the Nannaya University and provide logistic support.

He further said that the faculty of Nannaya University would get wages in this programme. James Maddirala, Vice-Provost, University of Virgin Islands said that this programme has been designed to benefit the students of the country. He stressed the need for the awareness of this programme among the students.

He expressed happiness over coming to his hometown, Rajamahendravaram after many decades. IV Muralikrishna, retired professor, JNTU, Hyderabad said that CPA course would level the gap through specific modules. He termed it was a great opportunity for the students of twin Godavari districts.

Registrar of the University, EN Dhanmjaya Rao urged the University of Virgin Islands to keep the financial capabilities of the students of this region while executing the course to make sure that eligible poor students get an opportunity to join the course. He termed the CPA as the best MoU that Nannaya University has inked.

He added that students would get an opportunity to get employment in multinational companies by pursuing this course. Earlier, Dean, academic affairs course coordinator S Teki explained that details of courses that Nannaya University was offering. Prof KS Ramesh and Assistant Professor Jyothirmai also spoke.
