CM committed to inclusion of Kapus among BCs: Bojjala
Minister for Environment and Forests Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been exploring possibilities to include Kapus in BCs without affecting the interests of other communities in BC list. He said that the Chief Minister has formed AP Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation with Rs 1,000 crore as the fund for an uplift of Kapus by distributing loans.

The Minister attended as a chief guest in an awareness camp organised by district unit of Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation for the benefit of Kapus at Bala Tripura Sundari Kalyana Mandapam here on Tuesday. Addressing the awareness meet, the Minister reiterated that the Chief Minister is committed to the development of Kapus.
He made an appeal to members of Kapu community to make use of government welfare schemes. Referring to the demand of changing the present Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation as Kapu, Balija Welfare and Development Corporation, Bojjala assured of taking up the matter to the notice of Chief Minister. He instructed corporation officials to sanction loans for all the eligible Kapu beneficiaries.
Bojjala sought the active participation of Kapus in strengthening the TDP in the district. AP Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation Chairman Chalamalasetti Ramanujaya stated that they have decided to set up skill development centres for Kapus to encourage them for establishing industries. ZP Chairperson Giovani stated that Chandrababu Naidu has allocated more funds for the corporation in the budget.
Chittoor MLA DA Satyaprabha asked corporation officials to take effective measures for encouraging women beneficiaries of Kapu community. Later, the Minister distributed Rs 16.18 crore worth of loans for 1,592 Kapu beneficiaries. TDP district president G Srinivalusu, TDP MLAs Suguna, Shankar and Aditya, former MLA Lalitha Thomas, TDP leaders, DRDA PD Ravi Prakash Reddy and bank officials were present.
