Annavaram (East Godavari): The procession of Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy idol during the annual Kalyana Mahotsavam will be taken out through the traditional route in the village. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the committee of Vedic scholars appointed by the Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Vari Devasthanam to look into the row over a change in the procession route during the tenure of former temple executive officer.

  • After it was altered by the previous executive officer, the temple authorities deliberated on the same and once again decided to conduct the celestial ride of the Lord in traditional route from Tolipanchala to Andhra Bank in Annavaram village

The meeting was presided over by the temple executive officer K Nageswara Rao. The committee made it clear that the idol procession would be taken out in the traditional route during the forthcoming Kalyana Mahotsavam to be held from May 16 to 22. As per the tradition, the idol procession is held on the first five days of the seven-day annual fete from 9 to 11 PM.

It also stated that there was no connection between the idol procession and Teppotsavam of the Lord. The former EO might have altered the procession route to enable people of new residential colonies in the village witness it. The procession would be conducted from Tolipanchala to Andhra Bank in the village as per the tradition, the committee said.
