Vijayawada: BC Jana Sabha State president Dr G Gangadhar criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party for encouraging defections openly in the State besides ignoring the welfare of the people. Speaking to the reporters here on Friday, Gangadhar alleged that the TDP was resorting to unethical and undemocratic practices of horse-trading by using its money power to wean away YSRCP’s elected members in the urban and rural local bodies.

He questioned why the TDP government was so keen on luring MLAs from the Opposition party though the State was facing severe drought and majority of the farmers were migrating to other parts. Steps should be taken by the government to address acute drinking water problem and mitigate drought in the State, he said.

The BC leader also took a dig at opposition YSR Congress Party for remaining mute spectator and was in a situation to protect their legislators ignoring the welfare of the public. He reminded that even after 24 months of TDP governance in the State it has virtually done nothing to benefit the people of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh.

Promises given by the BJP led NDA government has remained on papers. Till date, there was no assurance from the Centre over according to special category status, railway zone and special package to north Andhra and Rayalaseema districts. At least now, the TDP government should realise the fact and prevail upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the implementation of promises to the State or else people would teach a lesson to the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he said.
