Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president and official spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy said that Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has been making false claims on Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi lift irrigation projects. However, the AP government failed to question the Telangana government on the illegal projects on Krishna River.

Speaking to media persons at Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Monday, he said that the then Kiran Kumar Reddy government issued GO 72 in 2013 for conducting a survey on Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project and sanctioned Rs 6.91 crore.

Post bifurcation, the Telangana government issued a new GO on June 15, 2015, sanctioning a lift irrigation project from Srisailam project at a cost of Rs 35,200 crore, he added.

The Congress leader said GO 159 was issued during YS Rajasekhara Reddy regime for the sanction of Dindi lift irrigation project at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore and added that the Telangana government issued a fresh GO 107 on June 15, 2015 to take up the project at a cost of Rs 6,190 crore.

He said both the projects have no valid permission and would deprive water to 48 lakh acres both in Telangana and Andhra regions.

He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao should proceed to Delhi and stop the illegal projects on Krishna River or else AP would turn into a desert.
