Eluru: The Vigilance and Anti-Power Theft squad of the APCPDCL has launched a massive drive against pilferage in the district and detected 325 cases of power theft during searches carried out at various locations in the district. It has conducted raids to clamp down on illegal tapping of power and initiate action against those who do not pay for what they use.

The team headed by Additional Superintendent of Police N Kishore and Superintending Engineer of Detection of Pilferage Energy (DPE) Krishna Mohan conducted raids on Friday and Saturday at various places in the district. The DPE wing DEs and ADEs from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Eluru have participated in these raids.

The Vigilance and Anti-Power Theft squad detected 325 cases of power theft. During searches, Srikakulam DPE wing detected 70 cases of power theft, Vizianagaram DPE wing -30 cases, Visakhapatnam DPE wing - 92 cases, Rajahmundry DPE wing-64 cases and Eluru wing detected 63 cases of power theft respectively.

Vigilance and Anti-Power theft Inspector K Srinivasa Rao said, “It is one of the biggest crackdowns on power theft in recent times. For increased effectiveness of the drive and to unearth power theft of various types, the raids are being carried out literally 24x7 - even during late-night and early morning hours.”
