Visakhapatnam: Honorary president of Sri Swami Vivekananda Voluntary Service Organisation and TDP leader Zaheer Ahmad launched a signature campaign at Jagadamba Junction here on Saturday demanding the State and Central governments to install the statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
Paying tributes to the great patriot and freedom fighter Alluri on his death anniversary, Zaheer Ahmad lamented that despite having the permission, the installation of Alluri statue was getting delayed as there were no donors to bear the expenditure. The TDP leader said that it would be appropriate that both the State and Central governments should take the initiative in this regard which will be a real tribute to the great leader. Members of Sri Swami Vivekananda Voluntary Organisation Surada Appa Rao, Ch Potharaju, Saibalaram, D Raju, Appalakonda, Govind, K Srinu and others launched the signature campaign which will be sent to the State and Central governments.
