Eluru: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would tour West Godavari district on May 20 to inspect the Polavaram Right Main Canal (PRMC) and Pattisema Lift irrigation Scheme (PLIS), said Minister Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao.

Speaking to media persons at Tammileru aqueduct in Janampeta village, near here on Tuesday, the Minister said that to speed up the project works, the Chief Minister decided a State-wide tour of various projects starting from May 20.

“Water will flow into PRMC through PLIS in West Godavari district by June. Three key constructions of PRMC would be completed by the end of this month.

About 22 lakh cubic metres of gravel work is yet to be completed,” he said and added that he inspected the Janampeta tammileru aqueduct to speed up the works.

Devineni said the aqueduct works of Gunderu rivulet are almost completed and the works at Ramileru rivulet are on track. He said that after the linkage of Godavari and Krishna rivers, drinking and irrigation water would be supplied to Rayalaseema from Srisailam project. “By 2017, water from Polavaram left canal will be released to Yeleru project.

From Yeleru project, water will flow to Visakhapatnam to cater to the drinking and industrial purposes,” he said and added that elected representatives and officials would tour to speed up various projects in the State.

The Minister informed that the Chief Minister will also tour the State as part of Neeru-Chettu programme. “On May 18, he will tour East Godavari and in the third week of may he will tour Nellore,” he added.

Devineni lashed out at leader of opposition Jagan and said that the latter started agitation against the government as he was feeling insecure. He pointed out that many MLAs left the YSRCP as they have no confidence in the party. “If Jagan has the right attitude and conern over the special status, he should go to Delhi and stage a protest there,” he stated.

West Godavari district Collector Katamaneni Bhaskar, Polavaram Right Main Canal SE Srinivasa Yadav, EE Sitaramaraju, and others were also present.
