Kurnool: Demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) staged a protest in front of the Collectorate here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, YSRCP district president Gouru Venkata Reddy alleged that the Central government is delaying in granting of special status to Andhra Pradesh.

He slammed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for failing to get special status to Andhra Pradesh even after two years in power.

Instead of striving for the special status to the State, the Chief Minister is making baseless rumours against YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy, he alleged.

The YSRCP leader said that Jagan is determined to get special status to AP.

The State will become still more backward without special status, he said. He demanded the Chief Minister to exert pressure on the Central government for getting special status to the AP.

The Nandikotkur MLA Isaiah, Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy, Adoni MLA Sai Prasad Reddy, party leader Kohthakota Prakash Reddy and party workers took part in protest.

The YSRCP leaders said Jaganmohan Reddy is fighting for the special status to AP and will continue to fight till the Central government grants it. “We all standby Jaganmohan Reddy,” they assured.

Later, the party leaders gave a representation to the District Collector. Former Kodmur MLA Murali Krishna and other party leaders were also present.
