Vijayawada: AP Pollution Control Board chairman G Phanikumar supported industrial development for the economic uplift of the State and at the same time stressed the need for following the norms of Pollution Control Board.
The APPCB chairman said that the Pollution Control Board has been organising clinics to bring awareness among industrialists on the ill effects of pollution and methods to prevent pollution. He said that earlier, they have conducted clinics on pollution control in pharma sector in Visakhapatnam and clinics on pollution control in mining in Kadapa.
Addressing the clinic on pollution control in edible oil industries sector here on Thursday, the chairman said that the State government has liberalised policies for rapid industrial growth in the State. He said PCB would take measures to prevent pollution by suggesting necessary measures to the industrialists. He said it is better to prevent pollution at the beginning instead of taking action after increasing pollution levels through industries.
The chairman said that the technical experts would suggest measures to prevent pollution and at the same time recycling methods also would be explained. Addressing the meeting, Vijayawada zone environmental engineer N V Bhaskara Rao said industrialists of edible oil sector should utilise the opportunity to clear their doubts and solve their problems through the meeting.
PCB member secretary B R S Prasad said that industrialists should utilise the services of PCB to prevent violation of pollution control norms. He said the PCB would offer expert advice to industrialists to redress their grievances. He said that an environment committee would look after the effective solid waste management in Amaravati to prevent pollution.
Krishna university vice-chancellor S Ramakrishna Rao said that universities should study the pollution levels of various industries to prevent pollution. PCB former member secretary B Sengupta stressed the need for effective solid waste management. He explained the recycling of the water used in edible oil industry.
