Hyderabad: The State government is planning to approach the Centre to allow declaration of medical entrance examination results for the current year.

According to sources, State Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao held a detailed discussion with senior officials of the State Council for Higher Education here on Friday, to explore the possibilities for declaration of medical entrance results for the current year.

It may be mentioned here that following a Supreme Court judgement on NEET, it was mandatory for all the States in the country to make admissions into medical stream on the basis of the National Eligibility Entrance Test. However, the State government has been thinking to approach the Centre, which in turn could apprise the current situation in the State.

Unlike in other States, AP has already conducted its Eamcet-2016 for the admission in the current academic year. While the results of the engineering stream have been declared, results of the medical stream have been withheld following the judgement of the apex court.

The Centre had expressed during the court proceedings that it has no objection in case of those States which have already conducted their State level entrance tests to with admissions in medical stream during the current academic year. However, as the apex court had not given any such exception, AP was left with no option but to withhold the medical entrance results.
