Guntur district administration made arrangements to conduct 4-day fete to mark the 2,560 birth anniversary of Buddha in Amaravati, Anupu and Bhattiprolu

In the wake of the government planning to develop the three centres to create a Buddhist circuit to attract tourists, the officials are making necessary arrangements to organise the fete on a grand note.

Dhyana Buddha project in-charge R Mallikarjuna Rao reviewed the arrangements for the fete on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that 90 per cent of project works were completed and they are planning to inaugurate it in the first week of June.

On May 18, International Museums Day would be observed. A film will be screened in the museum opposite RTC Bus Stand in Amaravati at 9 am and it will be followed by staging of playlets, dramas, cultural programmes on Buddha Margam under the aegis of Swatantra Bharati in the evening. Maurya Ashok playlet will be staged on the occasion.

On May 19, Buddha Vandanam programme will be organised at Buddha Stupa in Bhattiprolu and 0n May 20, same programme will be organised at Anupu near Nagarjunasagar and it will be followed by Buddham Saram Gachami, a peace rally. On the days of fete Amaravati Museum will play host to various symposiums.
