District Collector Siddharth Jain said that district has achieved the target of constructing 1.36 lakh soak pits within the short time because of people’s cooperation. Jain said that there was the overwhelming response from people for constructing soak pits.  Speaking to the media here on Thursday, the Collector informed that Chittoor stood in first place in the State in soak pits construction. 

Chittoor: District Collector Siddharth Jain said that district has achieved the target of constructing 1.36 lakh soak pits within the short time because of people’s cooperation. Jain said that there was the overwhelming response from people for constructing soak pits. Speaking to the media here on Thursday, the Collector informed that Chittoor stood in first place in the State in soak pits construction.

He also said that district also won appreciation in an implementation of Neeru-Chettu programme in which 20,000 works worth Rs 172 crore were taken up. The Collector said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has given instructions to the district administration for making Chittoor as horticulture hub. Jain said Satyavedu and Srikalahasti will be developed as horticulture clusters in the district.

Earlier, the Collector took part in digging a soak pit in the Collectorate premises. DRO Vijay Chander, DWMA PD Venugopala Reddy, and other officials were present.
