Huge haul of ganja

The Prohibition and Excise Task Force team seized about 1,400 kg  of dry ganja worth over Rs 2 crore and arrested two youngsters when they were transporting the contraband to Tamil Nadu in a lorry at Anakapalli in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday. The arrested were identified as L Ramesh (25) and S Chiranjeevi (24), both  natives of Paderu in the Agency. 

Visakhapatnam: The Prohibition and Excise Task Force team seized about 1,400 kg of dry ganja worth over Rs 2 crore and arrested two youngsters when they were transporting the contraband to Tamil Nadu in a lorry at Anakapalli in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday. The arrested were identified as L Ramesh (25) and S Chiranjeevi (24), both natives of Paderu in the Agency.

One more accused in the case G Kalyan is managed to escape from the spot and search is on to nab him. Inspector (Task Force) of Anakapalli prohibition station, KVP Naidu said that smugglers packed the ganja in 70 gunny bags and placed the contraband in the luggage cabin of the vehicle and covered it with several tarpaulins to evade detection.

On a tip-off, the excise officials intercepted the vehicle and seized the contraband. The inspector also added that the ganja could be sold at around Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 per kg in Chennai markets.
