Tirupati: An unidentified man was found reading the Bible, which he was carrying at Vishnu Nivasam, TTD pilgrim complex, located opposite to Railway station here on Sunday. According to sources, some devotees resting on the spacious veranda on the ground floor noticed the man sitting next to them reading the Bible and objected it, only to be rebuked by him.

As he failed to heed them, a heated argument ensued between them, while some of the devotees went to the TTD staff and reported the matter. However, the person hurriedly left before the TTD staff reached the spot. The incident created the flutter in the massive pilgrim complex.

A pilgrim said that not only pilgrims, others from outside who could not afford or get paid accommodation, come to TTD pilgrim complexes, for a short stay of few hours before going on their work in the city. He blamed the laxity of TTD staff, particularly the ward staff for being unable to identify such persons and refuse them stay on the premises if they found carrying the propaganda material like books or pamphlets of other religion.
