Visakhapatnam: The city unit of CPM demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the Srikar Labs incident in which one worker from Srikakulam Ch Ramakrishna died and 22 others sustained injuries.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, city committee secretary B Lokanadham demanded action against the management for violating safety norms.

He said that accidents were happening at regular intervals and the State government was not initiating any action against the management for violating the safety norms. In the name of `ease of doing business’ the government officials were colluding with the management throwing safety norms to the winds.

``More than 60 accidents took place in the city taking toll of 35 workers and not a single case has been booked against the managements so far,’’ Lokanadham said. After the blast at Biomax Company, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered safety audit of all the industries in the city and an audit team visited Srikar Labs last week on May 17. Yet the management had failed to take any precautionary measures, Lokanadham stated.
