INS Konkan bags top award

Visakhapatnam: INS Konkan won the ‘most spirited ship’ trophy and INS Cuddalore adjudged as `Best Ship’ at the Annual Flotilla Awards ceremony for the year 2015-16 which was held at Naval Dockyard premises here on Tuesday.

Commodore Sanjeev Issar, Naval Officer-in-Charge, Andhra Pradesh, was the chief guest at the impressive traditional naval ceremony held every year to present awards to the ships of the flotilla excelling in different facets of operations. The event was conducted to recognise overall excellence and valuable contribution of the ships and gallant men who have maintained constant vigil off the coast of the city.

During the year gone by, local flotilla was deployed in various operations and also played an important role in the recently conducted mega event – International Fleet Review.

Sanjeev Issar congratulated all the award winners and highlighted the importance of keeping the ships in highest operational state at all times. He also stressed upon the dynamic security situation prevailing in the region and the need for maintaining strict vigil.
