Visakhapatnam: The city police are still hunting for the persons accused of knocking down a 29-year-old woman in Anakapalli recently.

The traffic wing of Steel Plant police are tracking CCTV footage to identify the persons. It may be recalled that a married woman Moturu Lavanya (29), a resident of Vadlapudi area in the city, was killed in a road-accident on Sunday near Salavanipalem area on the national highway-16. Her relatives and family members, however, alleged that it was a pre-planned murder committed by one Dadi Hemanth Kumar and his friends.

The police said Lavanya went to Nukalamma temple at Anakapalli, along with her two family members on Sunday evening, triple riding a two-wheeler.
While returning home, the bike in which she was pillion riding, was hit by a speeding car near Salavanipalem. All three fell off the scooter and Lavanya died on the spot after sustaining severe head injuries. The other two suffered minor injuries.

The family members said that Lavanya was teased by four youngsters Dadi Hemanth Kumar, a financier at Anakapalli, and his three friends.
Lavanya warned them at the temple for their misbehavior following which Hemanth Kumar nursed a grudge against her. He chased them in a car and hit the bike causing death of Lavanya. Soon after the crime Hemanth and his gang fled the spot.

“We have collected the CCTV footage at Nukalamma temple and checking whether Hemanth teased her or not,” said Traffic Inspector U Krushna.
They tried to check the call data of Hemanth Kumar, but found the phone switched off after the incident.

The police registered a hit and run case after preliminary inquiry and a senior police officer said the case would be converted into murder if enough evidence was found that it was case of pre-planned murder.

A special team has been formed to track the accused persons. Meanwhile, the family members of Lavanya on Wednesday staged a dharna in front of Parawada police station demanding arrest of Hemanth Kumar and his gang.
