Tears into government for failing to keep the promise of paying ex gratia

Amaravati: YSRCP president and Leader of Opposition, YS Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that negligence of builder led death of seven workers at Lakshmipuram on May 14. He questioned the police on why the builder was not arrested. Jagan met the families of the deceased in Gottipadu village in Guntur district on Friday. He consoled the family members of the deceased and gave a financial assistance of Rs 50,000.

Speaking on this occasion, he lambasted the government for failing to keep the promise of paying Rs 30 lakh ex gratia and allocating five acres of land to the families of the deceased. He demanded the government to pay Rs 5 lakh of the announced ex gratia amount, immediately and warned of staging a protest at Collectorate in Guntur, if the demand is not met within 10 days.

Alleging that the builder forced labourers to work overtime, Jagan questioned on why insurance amount was not paid to the families of the deceased by the builder and demanded the government to collect Rs 25 lakh from the builder. The YSRCP chief was accompanied by MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarulu, MLAs A Rama Krishna Reddy, Md Mustafa and former MLA Mekathoti Sucharitha.
