Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Babu A has asked the officials to take measures for laying the high tension (HT) and low tension (LT) underground cables along the bathing ghats as well as on Durga temple national highway from Kummaripalem centre to Prakasam barrage. He said the underground cable work must be part of the Pushkaram ghat works and Durga temple flyover works and steps must be taken immediately to continue both bathing ghats construction and cable-laying works together.

The Collector on Saturday discussed with the Irrigation, Transco, Revenue officials and the representatives of Soma Constructions and suggested the officials to take measures for laying underground electrical wires. He said once these works were completed, it would be very difficult to lay the underground power lines along the bathing ghats or Durga Temple flyover.

Referring to construction of retaining walls and ghats, the Collector asked the officials to arrange 290 tippers for supply of earth and sand to speed up the works along Krishna river. He personally checked out the quality of tiles to be used at the bathing ghats. The tiles, manufactured in Bengaluru, were displayed to the Collector on the occasion. He categorically said good quality of tiles must be used at the bathing ghats to protect the lives of pilgrims.

He suggested for box type designing works and fabricated works at the bathing ghats. On Friday night, the Collector inspected the progress of Krishnalanka national highway widening works and Durga Temple flyover works. The Collector inspected the two important works on Friday late night and expressed displeasure over the slow progress of works. He said the State and Central governments were ready to help the district administration to complete the ongoing works before Krishna Pushkaralu.
