Anantapur: A love affair between one Sai of Ganganagar Colony in the city and Soumya of Hyderabad led to the boy's father attempting suicide. He is battling for life at the Government General Hospital. According to the police, the boy Sai fell in love with a girl named Soumya of Hyderabad.

He came into contact with the girl at Hyderabad when he used to go for his business errands. Recently, the girl Soumya met Sai's mother Pushpalatha and father Vittal, a retired official of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) and revealed to them of their love affair. She threatened to commit suicide if they did not get them married. The boy's parents obliged and got them married on March 3rd at CK Palle village in the district. Meanwhile, the girl's parents filed a case of missing at the Ibrahimpatnam police station in Hyderabad.

Last week, they learnt that the girl was married and was living in Anantapur city. The relatives of the girl numbering around 20 descended in the house of the boy's parents and abused them. They also manhandled Sai’s parents.

They even filed a case against the boy's parents and made Vittal to sit in the police station for a day on Thursday.

Vittal unable to digest the humiliation at the police station consumed 20 sleeping pills on Friday and was admitted to the hospital in a critical state. He is battling for life at the hospital. Meanwhile Vittal's wife Pushpalatha speaking to the media on Saturday blamed the police and the girl's relatives for her husband taking the extreme step. The police are further questioning the relatives
of the girl.
