Pithapuram: As part of the intensified struggle by residents of Jaggayya Cheruvu Colony against demolitions by the Revenue staff in their drive against illegal residents, several youngsters on Monday resorted to tearing the flexes of local MLA S V S N Varma during a ‘rasta roko’ demonstration on the National Highway 216.

The enraged youth wanted to set fire to the collected flexes, but the police foiled their attempt. However, they raised slogans against the legislator. They expressed resentment against the officials for targeting the poor and sparing the wealthy. The protestors later laid siege to the Collectorate.
