Heavy rains lash Chirala
Though the heavy rain on Monday brought a sigh of relief from scorching heat to the denizens of Chirala and surrounding villages, it created havoc in the town. The hoardings and trees in the town were uprooted in many places.

The hoardings and science exhibition camp set up in NRCM Boys High School were completely collapsed while more than five trees on the main road, near a railway station, near government hospitals were uprooted.
No casualties were reported as the locals were inside the houses during the heavy rain. The officials warned them to stay away from the old and dilapidated buildings to avoid loss of lives. The town lost its power supply in the afternoon and the officials were trying to restore it until the last reports came in.
