Vijayawada: Even before the horror of nature’s fury at Uttarakhand in 2013 is subsided, the city’s pilgrims who were on their journey to the pilgrimage fell prey to the floods and landslides. A woman from Wynchpet of the city was reportedly dead in the floods. Following the incident, MP Kesineni Srinivas asked Krishna District Joint Collector Gandham Chandrudu to look into the rescue operations of bringing back the stranded pilgrims from the district.

According to details, G Kasi Malleswari (46) left for Uttarakhand to fulfill her desire to visit the famous pilgrimage which is open only for half of the year. She, along with a couple of friends and relatives started on the journey to Uttarakhand from the city approximately a week ago. However, due to the unexpected floods, G Kasi Malleswari went missing and later was found dead.

Kesineni Srinivas, therefore, ordered the district authorities to look into bringing the mortal remains of Kasi Malleswari to the city as early as possible. He also insisted that the pilgrims who belong to the district are brought back. Son of the deceased, Bhavan Kumar said that he would not want to talk to anybody about the incident and refused to comment.
