Hyderabad: The candidature of Union Minister for Railways from Andhra Pradesh seems to have paved the way for strengthening the relationship between the TDP and the BJP.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday after Suresh Prabhu filed the nomination, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh said that the TDP and BJP have great understanding and hoped that Suresh Prabhu would utilise all resources to develop Andhra Pradesh.

“TDP is part of BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre and both the parties have been working hard for the welfare of people,” he said. This statement of Lokesh assumes importance in the backdrop of the recent rift that was seen wherein both the AP BJP leaders and TDP leaders indulged in war of words.

In fact, even the AP BJP leader Somu Veeraju, who was highly critical of the government, had toned down his comments and in fact said that there was no confusion with regard to the relationship between the two parties. “The TDP-BJP alliance is perfect and there is no question of strained relationship,” he said.

Speaking to media, Suresh Prabhu said accelerated pace of development of Andhra Pradesh could be realised with the partnership of the State and the Centre. Stating that he was happy, proud and privileged for being nominated from a great state rapidly progressing under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he thanked the MPs, MLAs, leaders and workers of BJP and TDP for extending their support for his nomination from AP.

Stressing on to build together a modern Andhra Pradesh with the collaboration of all the stake-holders, Suresh Prabhu said that he has come to a state where he “can do a lot together”. Though he does not want to talk as a railway minister due to the ongoing electoral process, however, he said as a member of Parliament from the state “all round development of Andhra Pradesh is paramount and important”.

The Railway Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Naidu here he would do all that was necessary for accelerated pace of development. Responding to a query, Suresh Prabhu said, “We are lucky to have a Chief Minister, who always articulates the concerns of the State and we also have a PM who always listens to the concerns of the State. So, together we will work despite several challenges and having a state as a partner would further make the growth faster.”
