Visakhapatnam: Two days after the death of a 17-year-old teenager, who was run over by a Naval Officer on Assilmetta flyover, a family from Srikakulam approached the police claiming that the deceased was their son, and identified him as Nakka Janardhan Rao and not Raju. On the day of the accident, a beggar Nandi Appa Rao claimed that the boy was his son and claimed compensation.

The police believed him and handed over the body to him for cremation with the help of NGO Prema Samajam.
Later, the body was buried.

However, after knowing the real parents of the deceased, it was decided that the body would be exhumed.
Traffic police of Two Town police station said that soon after the accident, on Assilmetta flyover, Appa Rao and Demudu, a criminal, approached the Two Town police station and filed a complaint.

Appa Rao stated that he was the father of the deceased. Meanwhile, Janardhan’s elder brother Chinnaya received a phone call from Visakhapatnam.

Chinnaya received the call from Lions Club trustee M Srinivasa Rao, who offered Janardhan a job in his house three days before the incident.
Srinivasa Rao told police that the trust members distribute food every day and when he saw Janardhan immediately offered him job as he was found healthy to beg for food.

Janardhan had spent two days at his house and later told Srinivasa Rao that he would go to his village to bring his belongings and left. The same night he was killed.

Srinivasa as a part of daily routine went to the place of incident and found the body of Janardhan. He called up his elder brother Chinnaya the following day and informed about the incident.

Traffic CI Swmay Naidu said they are confirmed that Janardhan is second son of Nakka Kondaiah and Krishna (mother). Realising they were misled on the night of the incident, they launched a search for Nandi Appa Rao, the beggar, and his criminal friend Bhimudu.
