Tadipatri (Anantapur): YSRCP president Y S Jaganamohan Reddy embarked on a one-day 'Rythu Bharosa Yatra' to console the families of the deceased farmers who committed suicide due to mounting indebtedness caused by drought conditions and failure of the ruling TDP government in delivering its promise of loan waiver.

Jaganmohan Reddy accompanied by former MP Anantha Venkatarami Reddy, Uravakonda MLA Visveshwara Reddy and several party leaders including ex-MLA Gurunath Reddy launched his 'Rythu Bharosa Yatra' at Miduthuru village in Pedavaduguru mandal in Tadipatri Assembly constituency on Wednesday morning, where hundreds of supporters, farmers and women gave him a rousing reception.

He visited the family members of the deceased farmers Nagarjuna Reddy, Jagadeesh Reddy and others and consoled the family members who broke down before him. Addressing farmers, weavers and DWCRA women in his fifth leg of the yatra lambasted the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for failing to deliver on his promises of loan waiver which enabled him to capture power in the State and termed it as a 'great betrayal'.

Reddy said hundreds of farmers committed suicide after being betrayed by Naidu who simply ignored the fulfillment of two major promises he made to farmers and women. Naidu who promised unconditional loan waiver at one go has failed to do so and the farmers who are now paying compound interest to the loan which was supposed to have been waived off, he added.

He maintained that no crop insurance or input subsidy was given to the farmers. The Central government had given Rs 4,500 crore as special fund for farmers for creation of work but these funds were diverted to other schemes by the TDP government, he said.

The Chief Minister was living in an illusionary world by simply declaring that loans of farmers were waived off and faking that farmers and women are happy with his government. Y S Jaganmohan Reddy freely interacted with farmers and DWCRA women.

One Kishan Reddy, a farmer from Pedavaduguru told the YSRCP leader that many farmers including him had trusted the promise included in the TDP manifesto that crop loans would be waived at one go. Out of Rs 70,000 loan which is pending payment a mere Rs 10,000 was credited in his account.

Similarly, Krishna Kumari, a DWCRA woman claimed that her group of 15 women owed Rs 6 lakh to the bank. They had to pay a whopping Rs 40,000 interest on their loan. So far not a single rupee had been waived off, she lamented. At Chintalacheruvu, Reddy consoled the family members of Venkatram Reddy and Jagadeesh Reddy who consumed pesticides and died due to indebtedness.

He also took a dig at Naidu for allowing Telangana government to build irrigation projects indiscriminately which adversely affect AP's interests and Naidu didn’t even lodge a formal protest on behalf of the State and his government.
