Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Division of the South Central Railway (SCR) observed a week-long evaluation programme under the name Rail Humsafar Saptah’ in order to ensure quality of the passenger amenities, look into sanitation and welcome advices from the passengers as well as the customers. The programme concluded on Wednesday.

Addressing reporters at his chambers here on Wednesday, DRM Ashok Kumar mentioned that they named each activity that was planned to be held across a week. They were dedicated to check on the passenger amenities, train services, ticket checking, punctuality, pantry services and customer interaction. The days were titled Swachtha Diwas, Saamanjasya Diwas, Samyojan Diwas, Sanchaar Diwas, Seva Diwas, Satarkata Diwas and Samyojan Diwas.

I realised that there are several issues with the sanitation, pantry car maintenance and passenger services. Our staff, including officers has got an opportunity to directly look into these issues during the programme. We met up with our customers whom we are tied up with as well as passengers during the programme. Suggestions by them were received with positivity. They are being studied for implementation,” said the DRM.

He also added that they had planted about 2,000 saplings in the Railway colonies in the city as a part of the programme. Road shows were also being taken out to promote the elements at ground level. The road shows include groups going to railway stations in the zone till July 1.

Speaking on the arrangements for the pilgrims of Krishna Pushkarams, he said that they were experienced enough to arrange for adequate measures for the pilgrims. “We have put up commendable job for the Godavari Pushkarams and are gearing up to invest same amount of efforts and even more for flexibility of the passengers. About 600 special trains were asked for and 1000 plus force from the RPF were requested.

Another 25 CCTV cameras will be added to the 55 cameras for better surveillance. Also, the technical survey for double decker train is going on he added.
