Visakhapatnam: Minister for Panchayat Raj Ch Ayyanna Patrudu sought the cooperation of the people and parties irrespective of party affiliations for the all-round development of the State.

To mark the launch of the Nava Nirmana Deeksha Week here on Thursday, the Minister, MP K Hari Babu, Zilla Parishad chairperson Lalam Bhavani, MLC Dr M V V S Murthi, MLA P Vishnukumar Raju, Collector N Yuvaraj, Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar, VUDA Vice-Chairman Baburao Naidu and Commissioner of Police T Yoganand paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi near GVMC by garlanding his statue.

Later, they took part in the Nava Nirmana Deeksha rally organised by the government employees. Addressing a meeting, Ayyanna Patrudu claimed that the State government has been trying to develop the State with an action plan utilising the Central funds and its natural resources.

He said that measures are being taken to develop 13,000 panchayats in the State with CC roads, water facility and other infrastructure by linking the funds of MGNREGS to ensure all-round development of the State. He said that the Polavaram project will be completed by 2018. “We will strive to get separate railway zone for Vizag,” he added.

MP K Hari Babu reaffirmed that the Centre will help Andhra Pradesh on all respects to help compensate the loss suffered during bifurcation. Referring to the issues of construction of the State capital, filling up of revenue deficit, Special Category Status, Polavaram project and separate railway zone, he said that the Centre is keen to help the State for its development.

He reminded that the Centre has already sanctioned many educational institutions to the State. Collector Yuvaraj appealed to the public representatives, government employees and general public to cooperate with the district administration in its endeavour to develop the district as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has pinned high hopes that Vizag would play a pivotal role in the State development.

Expressing happiness over Vizag topping the per capita income in the State, the Collector urged to try to safeguard it with the same tempo.
