Balaji who is working as VRA of Sadasivakona village in KVB Puram committed suicide on Wednesday, allegedly unable to bear the harassment of police and ruling TDP officials.

Speaking on the occasion, RPI State president P Anjaiah said that following a complaint from a TDP leader, police in
the name of investigation harassed the poor Dalit Balaji and his family including his wife, which driven him to commit suicide.

He demanded the immediate arrest of the KVB Puram SI and other police staff and also the TDP leaders on the charges of abetting suicide in addition to the SC, ST Atrocities (prevention) Act which was registered by KVB Puram police after the suicide of Balaji.

He also sought Rs 25 lakh compensation to the victim’s family.
CPM and CPI district secretaries K Kumar Reddy and A Rama Naidu said that the stir will be intensified if justice is not done to Balaji’s family.

Later, a delegation including YSR Congress party, CPM, CPI and RPI and NGOs met Sub-Collector Himansu Sukla and submitted a memorandum.
