Visakhapatnam: MLC M V S Sarma will boycott the World Environment Day celebrations, which are slated for June 5 in the city, in protest against the apathy of Pollution Control Board officials in taking steps to curb the growing pollution in the city despite many appeals.

In a letter to Forest Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy on Friday, the MLC felt it was unfortunate that the Pollution Control Board, which failed to curb the pollution, will be organising the World Environment Day, hence, he will be abstaining from the event in protest. He found fault with the government and the Pollution Control Board in not attending to the woes of public.

Meanwhile, a team of Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA) led by general secretary A Aja Sarma met Joint Chief Environment Engineer Madhusudana Rao here on Friday to submitted a representation.
