Rains lash Srikakulam

Heavy rains lashed Srikaulam district from early hours till noon on Friday. A mango farmer was killed due to lightning at Gudivada village in Palakonda mandal. The deceased was identified as S Nageswara Rao (60) of same village. Lightning struck him when he was standing under a tree in mango grove near the village.

According to the planning department joint director M Sivaram Naiker, 1,094 mm rain fall was recorded till 3 pm in the district. Rain lashed 38 mandals in the district and highest rainfall of 68.08 mm was registered in Laveru mandal and 66.07 mm rain was registered in Itchapuram mandal.
