Rampa Chodavaram: AP State SC/ST Commission Chairman Karem Sivaji directed the officials to initiate measures to fill SC/ST vacant posts in various government departments.

He conducted a review meeting with the officials of various departments at ITDA Meeting Hall here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Sivaji directed the Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) officials to work for the uplift of tribals by ensuring better marketing through GCC.

He said that it has come to his notice that the GCC is not procuring cashew nuts, tamarind and hill brooms from the tribals.

He directed the officials of GCC to set up a cashew processing unit as cultivation of cashew is very high in Agency
areas.

Sivaji took serious note of medical officers referring most of the patients to either Kakinada or Rajamahendravaram and not treating them in area hospital and PHCs.

He directed the authorities concerned to fill regular posts in hospitals to provide better healthcare for tribals in Agency areas.

Sivaji asked ITDA project officer K V N Chakradhar Babu to ensure that the tribals earn decent income by selling forest produce outside Gandi Posamma and Gandi Bapanamma temple complexes.

He suggested the ITDA PO to consider providing employment for tribals in the execution of Akhanda Godavari project works.

He asked the officials to conduct an inquiry on cases filed by the forest department against Amaranath Reddy, the brain behind ‘Bongu Chicken’.
Sivaji said the prevalence of anemia among schoolchildren in Agency areas is high and asked education officials to fight anemia with an iron fist.

He asked the ITDA PO and Sub-Collector to submit a report on problems prevailing in four merged mandals in the district.

He instructed the authorities concerned to fill 237 posts in education department and 247 posts in health department. Rampa Chodavaram Sub-Collector Ravi Setty and MLC T Ratna Bai were also present.
