Kurnool: Top priority will be accorded to women’s protection, said Inspector General of Police N Sreedhar Rao. Women in distress can approach the police to resolve their problems, Inspector General of Police said to the media after inaugurating the Women’s Police Station at Five Roads Junction here on Saturday.

The IGP further stated that Kurnool has become faction free district. Kapatralla village, which was once dominated by factionists, is now reeling under peace.

He appreciated the Superintendent of Police Ake Ravi Krishna for transforming the faction-ridden village into a model village. He said that faction has drastically come down in 10 years.

Stringent action will be taken against the red sanders smugglers and a proposal to this effect was also sent to the government for making amendments in the law. The State government is firm to initiate stringent action against the red sanders smugglers, he stated.

Later, Rao, along with Superintendent of Police Ake Ravi Krishna, ASP T Chandra Sekhar Reddy, planted sapltings on the premises of Women’s Police Station. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPs), Circle Inspectors (CIs) and other police staff were also present.
