Visakhapatnam: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, has given Rs 2 crore worth steel free of cost to King George Hospital to construct multi-storied hospital complex, which consists of oncology block, surgery wards, department of orthopedics and anesthesia.

Chairman and Managing Director of RINL P Madhusudan handed over the sale order to Dr M Madhusudan Babu, Superintendent of KGH for supply of steel in his office on Monday. This total steel worth Rs 2 crore presently being issued will be used in the foundation works of the multi-storied complex.

P Raychaudhury, Director (Commercial) and senior officials of RINL were present on the occasion. Madhusudan Babu expressed his gratitude to RINL management for helping the KGH in developing the infrastructure of the oldest hospital in this region.

RINL has joined along with other PSUs in the endeavor to build multi-storied hospital complex on KGH premises at a cost of Rs 80 crore to strengthen the infrastructure facilities in KGH, which was built during the British regime.

RINL is also extending financial assistance to dermatology department of KGH to procure medical equipments like NB-UVB chamber, dermatoscope, aiming light for CO2 laser at a cost of Rs 6 lakh.

KGH is one of the oldest and prestigious hospital catering to the needs of not only Visakhapatnam but also the surrounding districts. To meet the growing demand and to accommodate all the facilities and specialties under one roof a multi-storied hospital complex is the need of the hour.

The site for the same has been obtained by dismantling of the old ENT block.

The District Collector and Chairman of Hospital Development Committee has taken up the construction of the multi-storied hospital complex with state-of-the-art facilities funded by local PSUs and executed by Andhra Pradesh Medical Services Infrastructure Corporation (APMSIDC).
