Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy pointed out that the State was surpassing all hurdles and was marching ahead with progress in last two years.

He said by completing the HNSS water would be given to 85,000 acres of land, and waters to 1.75 lakh acres would be brought under irrigation through Mucchumarri lift irrigation scheme to enable farmers take up two crops a year.

Siddapuram Lift Irrigation Scheme would cater the water needs of 25,000 acres of Pamulapadu, Kothapalli mandals, he said. Besides by completing
the Chilakadona, Pulikanuma, Pulakurthy Schemes under Guru Raghavendra water would be supplied to 35,000 acres,
he added.

Works are in progress to store 7 tmcft of water in the Gorukallu Reservoir besides efforts are being made to enhance 4 tmc ft waters at Owk Reservoir. Velugudu Reservoir would be stored with 17 tmc ft of water,” he added.

On employment, he said as many as 10,000 unemployed youth would get direct employment from Jain Irrigation, Gujarat Ambuja, Jayaraj Ispat, and MPL Industries. “This year the government has decided to start classes for IIIT and Urdu
University,” he informed.

Kurnool MP TG Venkatesh assured that he would strive for obtaining more funds from the Centre for the development of the State. He said the Centre would release Rs 50 crore to every district for taking up of several developmental works.
MLA SV Mohan Reddy said Rs 200 crore was sanctioned to the district.

He said the funds would be utilised for laying roads, providing drinking water and developing other amenities. District Collector Challa Vijay Mohan said he would strive for the welfare of the people of Kurnool. Joint Collector Hari Kiran, Joint Collector-II RamaSwamy and RDO L Raghubabu were present in the programme.
