Pithapuram East Godavari: Enthused at the pre-monsoon rains, the farmers in the district are headlong involved in agriculture operations 20 days ahead of the schedule and preparing beds to produce seedlings of various crops including brinjal tomato and chilly.
The farmers have tightened their belts to raise vegetable crops in 60,000 acres in the district.

In fact, farmers will not resume agriculture activity before June 20 after the summer. Unseasonal rains and tilling the land during summer helped the farmer to start the farming activity much ahead.

Farmers in Pithapuram Gollaprolu, Kirlampudi, Jaggampeta, Prattipadu, Tuni, Yeleswaram mandals and in the Agency areas of the district hit the road to their respective farms. The farmers are raising seedlings of chilly, brinjal and tomato and planting seeds of vegetable crops like bottle gourd, cucumber white pumpkin, beans and lady finger.

During the last season cotton crop was attacked by virus. As such, the farmers are not evincing any interest to raise cotton crop. The farmers are spotted engaged in one agriculture activity or the other like deweeding, planting seeds, preparing their farm for sowing and so on. If everything goes well the farmers are anticipating harvesting the crop 20 days ahead of the schedule.
