Chittoor: At last, Siddaiah Murthy is admitted in Ammavodi Ashramam in Chittoor on Monday. Veteran poet and editor of a small newspaper C V Siddaiah Murthy, resident of Chittoor city is now fighting for survival. His wife, a retired MPDO, and his lone son, an advocate, abandoned him long back.

The State government has given him five cents of land under journalist quota in Journalist Colony three decades ago. He mortgaged the land to the Indian Bank for not remitting his dues. Since he belongs to SC category, he contested from Chittoor Assembly constituency as an unsuccessful candidate of the then Swatantra Party.

He was the editor of Mabhoomi fortnightly which was closed two decades ago. Lack of affection and attention from his family members including his life partner, he used to spend his life alone at various places in the district. He wrote several books like Kanipakam Vaibhogam.

He suffered a lot to meet his both ends during the last few years. When he fell sick due to paralysis, his family members admitted him in Chittoor Government Hospital 15 days ago as an orphan.

Having come to know about his background, the hospital authorities have taken care of Murthy for two weeks with proper care. His condition is said to be deteriorating by each passing day in the hospital. Hospital superintendent Dr Jayaraj informed Padmanabha Naidu, the founder of Ammavodi, an orphanage about the critical condition of Murthy.

In turn, on Monday, Padmanabha Naidu himself drove Siddaiah Murthy to the orphanage. Speaking to The Hans India, Jayaraj said that personal care with medical treatment would be helpful for Siddaiah Murthy to recover to a little extent.

Somebody brought 80-year-old patient to the hospital and left him unattended for 15 days, the doctor added. He said as per the appeal made by Ammavodi founder, he said that Siddaiah Murthy was
discharged on Monday.
