Over 300 NSS volunteers of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) unit here volunteered to donate blood in connection with World Blood Donor Day on Tuesday.

Idupulapaya (Kadapa): Over 300 NSS volunteers of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) unit here volunteered to donate blood in connection with World Blood Donor Day on Tuesday. Earlier, they took out a rally highlighting importance of blood donation from Academic Block-I of IIIT to the hospital in the campus. Institute director Dr Bhagavannarayana exhorted students to come forward to get their blood samples tested so as to donate blood.

Institute administrative officer Viswanatha Reddy appreciated the students’ gesture and wished them successful in organising many more events like this. Finance Officer KVLN Reddy said that the students feel energised by way donating blood and their blood will come back to normal within fifteen minutes of donating the blood.

Hospital medical officer Dr Sridhar said collection of blood from the eligible donors would be completed within a week. NSS Coordinator Bhaskarayya, Academic dean Venugopal Reddy, NSS unit officials Saravan Kumar and Koteswari and others took part in the programme.
