Kurnool: Collector Vijay Mohan emphasised the importance of education and planting of saplings while speaking at Badi Pilustondi programme in Paddapadu village in Kurnool district on Wednesday.

He urged the villagers of Peddapadu to extend their services for the development of the village which should become a model one in Kurnool district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that drastic changes have taken place in Peddapadu village. He compared the village now and two years ago. He said that the village has developed in all sectors. This kind of developments should take place in all the villages, he opined.

The Collector urged the parents to join their children in the school and students should go ahead with a mission. This year around 10 lakh saplings will be planted and 1.20 lakh saplings have already been planted in 1,320 schools in a week.

He said that Rs 22 lakh is proposed to extend to the village on the grounds of encouragement and another Rs 22 lakh for the development of the village.

The village has to complete at least 100 farm ponds, rain harvesting pits in every house, individual toilets and 50 vermi composts, he said. Later, the villagers felicitated the Collector for striving for the development of the village. Prior to felicitation Vijay Mohan distributed school books to the children.
