Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress of the construction of farm ponds in the State. He conducted a state-level video-conference on Wednesday and addressed the officials over the preparations to be made for this agriculture season and water conservation.

The Chief Minister said works of only 27,604 farms ponds were completed in the State against the target of 6.32 lakh farm ponds. He said the government has started digging of 2.32 lakh farm ponds but the works of only 27,604 completed.

Naidu said the monsoon seems unstable this year and suggested the officials to focus on the alternative resources of water for crops. He said the government is preparing in every aspect for conservation of water resources and constructing harvesting structures and farm ponds. He asked the District Collectors to do field inspections to oversee the works of farm ponds.
