Vijayawada: Senior Congress leader and MLC C Ramachandraiah lashed out at the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over the handling of the Kapu reservations issue and said that the CM has miscalculated the intensity of the Kapu reservations issue and it will backfire.

He recalled how agitations for reservations for Jats, Gujjars and Patels have snowballed into massive agitations in North Indian States and Naidu should not under estimate the intensity of the Kapu agitation. Addressing media conference at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan, he said the Telugu Desam party had assured that it would give reservations to Kapus if the party was voted to power and later Naidu ignored the pre-poll promise.

Referring to use of excess force and imposing curfew like situation in East Godavari district after the arrest of Mudragada Padmanabham, he said the TDP government is trying to portray Kapu community as the biggest enemy of the government.

“Why the government is imposing restrictions on media and Opposition parties over the Kapu reservations issue” he asked and said the hotel where he stayed in Rajamahendravaram was totally sealed and put under control of police.

The MLC said playing with community feelings is like playing with fire and the CM is testing the patience of the people and would pay price for it.
