Pithapuram: A 19-year-old youth allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide on Thursday unable to bear the loss of his mother four days ago.

It may be recalled here that his mother Venkatalakshmi in an effort to get her widow pension went to East Godavari Collectorate in Kakinada and died due to exhaustion after waiting in a long queue.
Naga Gani used to live with his mother and used to attend agriculture works. He was dependent on his mother for livelihood.
The locals said that Naga Gani resorted to the extreme step as he was unable to support himself in the absence of his mother.
