Amalapuram: Kapu activists who have been agitating for the last nine days protesting the house arrest of their leader Tataji on Friday, formed a human chain at Clock Tower Centre here, raising slogans in support of fasting leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

Sons of late Nalla Chandra Rao, Ajay and Sanjay, have also been detained. They are likely to remain under house arrest till Mudragada ends fast.

While condemning the government’s indifferent attitude, the protesters submitted a representation at Gandhi statue near the centre, listing out the demands of Mudragada. They clarified that Mudragada had not ended his fast, as claimed by the government.

The protesters demanded immediate release of the arrested Kapu activists. Meanwhile, undeclared ban orders are continuing in Amalapuram, with heavy police deployment. Additional SP Damodar is monitoring the situation regularly.
