Hyderabad: Former Union Ministers M Pallam Raju and Dasari Naryaana Rao expressed doubts over the sincerity of Andhra Pradesh government in resolving the ongoing fast by former minister and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

A meeting held at the residence of Pallam Raju, attended by prominent Kapu leaders like K Chiranjeevi, C Ramachandraiah, Ambati Rambabu, G S Rao, former minister Botcha Satyanarayana and others expressed disappointment over the way the officials and Ministers were taking different stands on the crisis caused by Padmanabham’s fast.

Speaking to The Hans India, Pallam Raju said that the meeting discussed details of the developments that took place right from the day the Kapu leader sat on his deeksha, the way he has been arrested and the steps being taken by the government in defusing the situation.

He said never before any government has ever resorted to such highhandedness against any fasting leader and criticised the way Padmanabham was treated like a criminal, while taking him into custody by police which had hurt the feelings in entire community.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Dasari Narayna Rao said that the meeting had discussed the future course of action to be chalked out following the government’s in action.

He warned the government not to play with the life of Padmanabham and made it clear that though Chief Minister may not be behind the provocative statements being made by the Ministers, at the same time it would be his responsibility to resolve the issue at hand in a peaceful manner.
