Atmakur Kurnool: Municipal Regional Director Vijayalakshmi on Monday visited the office of the Nagara panchayat here, and verified the official records and breathed fire on the municipal commissioner and expressed her impatience at the sorry state of affairs in the office.

She warned Municipal Commissioner Ibrahim of dire consequences if he did not mend his ways.
She found drainages overflowing onto streets emitting a reeking smell. She blew off her top at the collection of only Rs 8.50 lakh against the targeted Rs 1.49 crore.

She wondered at the total absence of records related to water tax collection. Her anger knew no bounds when only 54 rainwater harvesting structures could be built against the targeted 514 and was reported to have questioned the commissioner “Does it not amount to sabotaging the government by choosing not to discharge duty drawing salary every month?”

She sought to know from him why information on tree plantation programme in 20 wards of the town is not comprehensive. She was irked at not planting at least 500 out of the proposed 15,500 saplings in the wards.

Several have complained to her about the town planning official’s collection of mamools.
The Regional Director who lost her patience at the inspection of office records in a dingy office, which has no ventilation and not spacious, questioned the commissioner why no initiative has been taken to build a new office in spite of having funds for the same.
