Youth drowns at sea
Tragedy struck week-end revelers when a 22-year-old youth drowned at Yarada beach while three of his friends escaped from the jaws of death.
Visakhapatnam: Tragedy struck week-end revelers when a 22-year-old youth drowned at Yarada beach while three of his friends escaped from the jaws of death.
The incident took place on Sunday evening when four youths wanted to have fun in the Yarada waters.
The deceased was identified as Allu Rajesh (22), a resident of Velpula street, Anakapalle town and an engineering graduate.
Other three friends, K Lokesh, Majoj and Praveen are said to be stable. They were saved by the community life guards.
Police said Rajesh, Lokesh, Manoj and Praveen, all hailing from different areas of the city had gone to Yarada beach on Sunday evening. While playing in the waters, four of them accidentally pulled deep by the rip current.
The community guards, who were nearby, jumped into sea immediately and brought three of them. Unfortunately, Rajesh was dead by the time he was brought to the shore.
Police shifted the body to King George Hospital mortuary for postmortem to be performed on Monday. Other three friends are said to be stable after first aid. The Newport police registered a case and are investigating.
