Hundreds of CITU activists, artistes, folk artistes, CITU leaders, activists and volunteers are canvassing in the city for the last one month to make the four-day convention a grand success.

​Vijayawada: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State unit has intensified campaign in Vijayawada city for the success of CITU State convention to be held from June 26 to 29 in the city.

Hundreds of CITU activists, artistes, folk artistes, CITU leaders, activists and volunteers are canvassing in the city for the last one month to make the four-day convention a grand success.

The CITU State meet will discuss important issues like PF, insurance, pension and minimum wages to the workers and employees working in various govt departments, organised and unorganised sectors. The volunteers of CITU so far conducted red shirts march and bike rallies in the city and doing campaign through wall posters.

On Wednesday, folk artistes from Mandanapalle (Chittoor district) came to Vijayawada and performed folk dances in Governorpet to create awareness among the workers about their rights and CITU meet.

Hundreds of people curiously watched the performance of folk artistes on the occasion. The CITU State general secretary, M A Gafoor, addressing on the occasion, said the four day conference of CITU in Vijaya wada would focus on the important problems of the workers in the State.

He said discussions would be made on minimum wages, PF, pensions and coverage of insurance to the workers. He said CITU national and State leaders would attend the 4-day conference.
