Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is heading for a four-day tour to China from June 26. This would be his second visit to the nation in the last two years. He was on a six-day tour to China in April 2015, during which he had signed several MoUs with various companies for partnership in the development of new capital, Amaravati.

This time, the Chief Minister is heading a 15-member delegation including Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana. Though the Chief Minister is scheduled to attend the meeting of the World Economic Forum, the visit assumes significance as the team is set to visit the headquarters of the Chinese company, Guizhou International Investment Corporation of China (GIICC), which is playing a key role in the capital development.

The GICC had already signed MoUs with the State government for development of the longest bathing ghat along river Krishna for the upcoming Krishna Pushkaralu. The 12-km long bathing ghat is coming up between Vijayawada and Ibrahimpatnam to accommodate the devotees visiting the city for holy dip during the Pushkaralu starting on August 12.

The GICC is also part of the City Square development in the city. The State government had proposed to convert the sprawling 20-acre Swaraj Maidan into City Square at a cost of Rs 135 crore.
